Legacy of Torture – The War Against the Black Liberation Movement: Eight Black Community Activists, mostly Black Panthers, were arrested on January 23, 2007 in California, Florida and New York, on charges stemming from a 1971 killing of a San Francisco police officer – charges which had been thrown out over three decades earlier, after it was revealed that police had used torture to extract confessions from several of these men in 1973.
